According to statistics from American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), women make up about 90 percent of all plastic surgery patients, so it’s no wonder why we think that cosmetic procedures are something that only women are interested in. New Orleans ABC affiliate WGNO recently reported about how one local plastic surgeon is working with men in the area to help them get them the look that they’ve always wanted. Dr. Cynthia Mizgala told the media outlet that she has seen an increased number of male patients who are willing to go under the knife. They are often interested in removing sagging skin after weight-loss surgery or want to look a little more refreshed as they compete in the job market.
In Dr. Mizgala’s office, the path to a new look often begins with a Botox injection or two.
“When a man comes in for Botox, that’s often a door opener,” Dr. Mizgala told the source. “When they see that it is pretty much painless, easy, and gives them a natural look instead of that overdone look they’re very afraid of, they’ll often come back and maybe do a little more next time or a different area.”
The top three invasive procedures for men are rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, and liposuction. Dr. Mizgala joked that in New Orleans, with its plethora of great restaurants, liposuction is definitely a popular procedure among her male patients.
