WHAT IS BREAST IMPLANT REVISION?

It’s common for most implants to eventually be removed due to age, implant rupture, potential leaking or other reasons. With years of success in explant surgery, Dr. Lett understands the concerns of removing a breast implant like loss of volume.

When a patient chooses to have their breast implants removed there are plenty of options to choose from like those listed below.

Unlike explanting breast implants by removing them, breast implant replacement involves correcting with new and improved implants. Typically, patients choose breast implant revision surgery to change the size/shape of their current implants or other cosmetic purposes.

Generally, the lifespan of most breast implants lasts between 10-20 years and are often replaced or repaired during those timeframes.

REASONS FOR CONSIDERING BREAST IMPLANT REVISION

  • Breast implant deflation.

  • Change in breast size.

  • Capsular contracture.

  • Implant malposition.

“In the United States, the average time for needing a revision of a breast implant operation or a replantation or exchange of implants is about every 13.5 years. So a woman should consider augmentation mammoplasty as a relationship where she will knowingly have to replace her implants at some point.” – Dr. Lett
