With the summer months quickly approaching, many women are trying to get into shape for swimsuit season. But some may be eschewing last year’s suit in favor of a more modest option – the one-piece. An new poll covered by the Daily Mail found that more American women than ever are opting for a one-piece or tankini instead of the bikini. The reason? For many, this type of apparel is seen as more flattering than other skin-baring suits.

The article stated that more than half of women surveyed said they will be wearing a one-piece to the beach this year, compared to 18 percent who said they’ll be wearing a bikini. Many one-piece wearers felt that this was a better choice for their body shape, and choose a suit based on how flattering it is.

The survey was intended to find out how women feel about their bodies, and more than three-fourths of respondents said they did not feel that they had the perfect beach body, possibly a reason behind this move toward a more covered up swimsuit.

Considering both Kim Kardashian and “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara were seen wearing one-pieces, this may soon be the new norm.

However, for women choosing to stay away from bikinis for fear of not having a beach-ready body, there are ways to feel comfortable in your swimsuit without covering up more. With a tummy tuck or liposuction, beach-goers can show off their body in any kind of suit they want, not just what shows the least skin. Instead of hiding away with a more conservative suit, The Lett Center offers these and other procedures, so our customers can feel confident with their bodies in the upcoming summer months.
