The holidays are near, and you know what that means– a full calendar of parties and plenty of pictures to document all the merrymaking.

Of course, you want to look your absolute best for these special occasions. To achieve that, nothing compares to naturally glowing skin. Not to mention, smooth, professionally exfoliated skin makes your make-up application go on easier, last longer, and look much better!

Even if you don’t have a holiday event that you’ll be getting glammed up for, the winter months bring cold air, low humidity, and indoor heating that depletes moisture. This skin-wrecking recipe can leave even the youngest or botox-treated skin with a dry, dull, lackluster complexion.

Luckily, several affordable aesthetic treatments can rejuvenate your appearance, leaving you with radiant skin with little to no downtime.

In this article, we’ll compare a few of the most popular aesthetic treatment options that will have you glowing and looking rested and refreshed for the holidays and the ideal timeframe to book your treatment for the ultimate winter glow.

Benefits Of Facials and Facial Aesthetic Treatments

Your body’s largest organ is your skin (yes, your skin is an organ.) It has multiple layers and is prone to many problems, especially the skin on your face.

On top of an at-home am/pm medical grade skincare regime, regular facial treatments are a fast, budget-friendly way to take care of your skin year-round, but are especially beneficial in the cold and dry days of winter and for occasions where you want to put your best face forward!

Unlike skincare, which takes time and consistency, injections and fillers that take time to settle, and invasive lasers that require downtime, many facials provide instant gratification. The results are instantly cleaner, softer, brighter, plumper, and radiant skin, making them the perfect addition to your winter skincare regime.

There are different types of facial treatments, and each targets various skin concerns and has unique benefits. For example, suppose you are prone to breakouts and hope to improve acne or get rid of a breakout before your event. In that case, you’ll want to book a facial that includes a serum for acne-prone skin, such as salicylic acid. If dry, flaky, crepey skin is your main concern, the best facial for you would be one that focuses on deep exfoliating to get rid of dead skin cells.

In this article, we will discuss the three facial treatments we suggest for the ultimate holiday glow. After reading, if you still aren’t sure which facial is best for your skin type or color, no problem!

The Top 3 Facial Treatments For Radiant Winter Skin

A facial treatment is an in-office non-invasive procedure that can help clear clogged pores, remove dead skin, quench dry skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, reduce puffiness, and even aid skin cell renewal. Most facial treatments also involve massage, which aids blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

The most popular facials for the ultimate glow are the DiamondGlow facial, HydraFacial, and The Perfect Derma™️ Peel. Each provides different levels of exfoliation that will leave you with soft, glowing skin– you can’t go wrong with any of them.

That said, each has its own unique features and timeframe for peak results. Let’s dive into their differences and what makes each stand out!

DiamondGlow Facial

What Is The DiamondGlow Facial?

The name says it all! The DiamondGlow facial is a multipurpose 3×1 facial treatment that simultaneously uses a unique crushed diamond tip to exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin with hydro dermabrasion technology, extract dirt and debris, and infuse up to two customized SkinMedica® serums onto the skin. The result is an instant wow-factor glow!

The DiamondGlow facial is an excellent choice for anybody that wants radiant skin. It is safe for most skin types and colors and can correct a wide range of complexion issues like dullness, redness, oiliness, dryness, and fine lines.

What Makes The DiamondGlow Facial Different From Other Facials?

Two things make the DiamondGlow Facial unique compared to other facials: the exfoliation method and how customizable it is.

The DiamondGlow facial isn’t one-size-fits-all. The two serums used at the end of the treatment are customized for each individual to address your top skin care concerns.

The DiamondGlow doesn’t use any type of chemical exfoliation. Instead, this treatment utilizes six sand-paper-like crushed diamond tips to exfoliate dead skin to deeply clean and refine pores, providing deep skin you can’t get at home or with many other facial treatments.

Just as the serums used in The DiamondGlow facial are customizable, so are these tips. We will determine which exfoliating tip aligns best with your skin’s needs.

What Are The Results Of The DiamondGlow Facial?

You might have a little bit of tightness and redness after the treatment. If so, it should go away within 24-48 hours.

Despite any minor irritations, you should see an instant glow after only one DiamondGlow session. In fact, 100% of patients in a clinical study say their skin felt more firm and looked more radiant immediately following treatment!

These glowing results should remain at their peak for several days or even weeks after the treatment, making The DiamondGlow Facial the perfect facial treatment for a month of special events.

The results of a DiamondGlow facial will continue to work for the next six to 12 weeks. However, it’s suggested to book a series of four to six treatments spread out over 2-3 months for maximum skin benefits.

HydraFacial

What Is A HydraFacial?

This one-of-a-kind non-invasive aesthetic treatment tackles everything from dehydration and discoloration to acne, fine lines, and uneven skin tone and texture.

There is a good reason “hydra” is part of its name. After just one short 30-45 minute treatment, you will instantly have drastically dewier, glowing skin!

There is no other facial like the HydraFacial. It uses unique “vortex technology” that sucks dirt out of your pores. Essentially, it gently “vacuums out” all the gunk dulling your skin, leaving your pores clean and skin hydrated, silky soft, and dewy!

During the facial, your esthetician will also chemically exfoliate using glycolic and salicylic acid, perform extractions and infuse your skin with antioxidant, nutrient, and collagen-rich serum boosters.

A HydraFacial sounds abrasive, but it’s not! The suction is gentle, and your esthetician can even control the power of the vortex extraction nozzle, so it is less powerful around sensitive areas like your eyes. The blend of glycolic acid and salicylic acid is potent but not painful. At most, you will feel a slight tingle.

What Makes A HydraFacial Different From Other Facials?

Some stats say that a HydraFacial is so popular that it is performed worldwide about every 15 seconds! Considering one treatment is all you need to give your skin an instant reboot, it’s no surprise that a HydraFacial is one of the most requested aesthetic treatments to have before a big event.

It is safe and effective for all skin types and is the only hydra-dermabrasion aesthetic procedure that uses patented suction technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate.

The HydraFacial is a great way to remove the buildup that covers the top of the skin, leaving your skin baby soft, glowing, and super smooth for flawless make-up application. However, your skin will look so good you won’t want to cover it up.

What Are The Results Of A HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial shouldn’t cause any redness. If you experience any, it will be minimal and should go away within hours.

You can expect your skin to look dewy and glowy immediately following a HydraFacial, and the peak of its radiance lasts for days to weeks.

The treatment can improve the appearance of fine lines; however, it isn’t a quick fix for wrinkles. The HydraFacial is intended to improve skin’s appearance over time. For max results, it’s suggested that you get a HydraFacial treatment every four to six weeks.

That being said, its effects are instant and tend to last longer than many other non-invasive facials. To learn more about HydraFacial, click here.

The Perfect Derma™️ Peel

What Is The Perfect Derma™️ Peel?

Don’t let the name “peel” scare you away from this powerful yet relatively gentle aesthetic treatment. Compared to the before-mentioned facials, you will have some skin peeling and a few days of minor irritation. However, The Perfect Derma™️ Peel is still considered minimally invasive with minimal downtime.

The Perfect Derma™️ Peel is composed of four different acids—TCA, retinoic, salicylic, and kojic. It also contains vitamin C and glutathione, an antioxidant that provides deeper exfoliation for a healthy skin glow.

It is a safe medium-depth peel for all skin types and ethnicities

What Makes Perfect Derma™️ Peel Different From Other Facials?

The Perfect Derma™ Peel is more of an aesthetic treatment than a relaxing facial. While most people say it is relatively painless, it is considered a minimally invasive treatment, meaning it does cause a little bit of irritation and peeling of the skin for about a week following the treatment.

It is the perfect choice for someone that not only wants radiant skin but also has concerns about deeper wrinkles and uneven skin tone and texture.

The Perfect Derma™️ Peel is different from other peels and facials as it is the only peel that includes the powerful antioxidant Glutathione, which lightens and brightens the skin, slows down the aging process and helps prevent wrinkles.

What Are The Results Of The Perfect Derma™️ Peel?

You won’t walk out of the office with an instant glow or notice the effects of The Perfect Derma™ Peel on the day of your treatment. It takes a few days for your skin to heal. But when it does, expect to be wowed with brighter, smoother, more radiant, youthful skin.

On the day of your peel, you might look a little bit sunburned and feel minor irritation. Then on days 2-3, you might notice your skin feels tighter, a little pink, and possibly a tad blotchy.

Days 3-4, your skin will start to visibly peel a little bit. This might last a few more days if it is your first peel or you have sensitive skin.

After about a week, you will start to see the results – which are improved skin tone and texture, a brighter, smoother complexion, and a radiant glow.

The only negative of The Perfect Derma™️ Peel is that you will have some skin irritation, so you’ll want to plan to have the treatment done with enough time to heal. But the results are more dramatic and long-lasting compared to other non-invasive aesthetic treatments.

Key Differences Between The DiamondGlow Facial & HydraFacial

As you can see, The Perfect Derma™️ Peel is an entirely different aesthetic treatment compared to a HydraFacial or DiamondGlow Facial.

With The Perfect Derma™ Peel, you will no doubt have radiant, glowing skin, but the results aren’t immediate, as it is slightly more invasive and requires a week or two to fully heal.

However, the HydraFacial and DiamondGlow Facial share a lot of similarities. They can both

leave skin feeling brighter, smoother and healthier– making it a tough choice if you seek a straight-out-of-the-office holiday glow.

Here is a quick break-down of their key differences that might help you decide which is best for you:

  • Both facials are typically safe for most skin types and tones; however, a HydraFacial might be better suited for extremely sensitive skin.
  • Both offer exfoliation; it’s the exfoliation methods that are different. A HydraFacial uses chemical exfoliation, whereas the DiamondGlow Facial uses chemical-free manual exfoliation.
  • DiamondGlow offers deeper exfoliation and extraction and is more of a corrective treatment that uses customized medical-grade serums to address wrinkles, crepey skin, large pores, acne scars, and/or discolored skin. It will leave your skin feeling deeply exfoliated, deeply cleansed, and smoother, with a noticeable, brighter glow.
  • Hydrafacial also exfoliates the skin and unclogs pores; however, it is a slightly more gentle cosmetic approach and uses specific “boosters” to address redness, brighten skin, and improve texture and signs of aging.

Both facials cleanse the skin, extract impurities, and infuse with nourishing serums that will leave you with healthy glowing skin. The DiamondGlow basically goes a step further and exfoliates your face deeper using a diamond tip that allows customized serums to sink deeply into skin tissues. Whereas the HydraFacial penetrates the skin superficially with a blend of gentle acids.

Many of our clients like to start with a DiamondGlow facial, then maintain or enhance their glow with regular HydraFacials.

Radiant Skin Timeline: When To Book Your Holiday Facial

We’ve covered what to do to have radiant skin for your holiday events; now, let’s go over when you should have these treatments done for optimal results.

For a DiamondGlow facial, most people experience very little to no redness due to its chemical-free and gentle exfoliation technique. To be safe, we suggest having this facial done at least 2-3 days before your event. You might want to do it a week in advance if you have sensitive skin.

If you choose a HydraGlow Facial, any minor redness from the suction and exfoliation should be gone within hours, so it’s perfectly fine to book your HydraFacial 1-2 days before your big event.

The Perfect Derma™️ Peel requires a little more advanced planning. While all peeling should subside within a week, to be safe, you will want to schedule The Perfect Derma™️ Peel at least two weeks before your big event.

All three facials can be performed in the same month as your holiday event. That said, for even the most minimally invasive treatments, if this is your very first exfoliating facial, you might want to come in 2-4 weeks before to do a trial treatment.

For any facial, your glowing skin can be sustained for a more extended period if you properly hydrate! Drink extra water, invest in a humidifier, and stay on top of your daily am/pm medical-grade moisturizing regime.
