If you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your nose, you’re not alone. A rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job is one of the most popular procedures in the U.S., with more than 400,000 performed each year. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nose surgery was one of the top five cosmetic procedures performed in 2014.

What is a nose surgery?
A rhinoplasty procedure often involves reducing the size of the nose by removing or sculpting nasal tissues. By doing so, the overall appearance of the face can be enhanced. Results are unique to each individual patient.
Why should I consider nose surgery?
Patients consider undergoing nose surgery for a range of issues. The most common include creating better facial proportions, reducing the size or width of the nose, correcting an overarch, fixing the appearance after a trauma, or treating present breathing issues.
How is the procedure performed?
A rhinoplasty procedure lasts between one and three hours depending on the issues at hand and overall patient health. Tiny incisions are made in the nose, allowing the surgeon to gain access to the inner nasal structure. With the skin opened, cartilage and bone can be reshaped to form a new appearance. Usually, two different techniques are used to complete a nose job, known as open and closed techniques.
In open surgery, maximum visibility and control over the procedure can be maintained, but healing time is often slower. In comparison, a closed surgery is more internal and heals faster, but less surgical control is possible.
What is the recovery process like?
Plenty of rest and limited movement is essential for the best outcome possible. More about the recovery process can be read here.
