For some people interested in plastic surgery, researching procedures and then scheduling consultations with board certified plastic surgeons can be overwhelming. Recently, many potential patients have sought the assistance of medical matchmakers or plastic surgery “coaches” who explain procedures and match them with doctors who are highly experienced in performing the types of surgery that they desire.
One such advisor, Michele Garber, who calls herself the NipTuck Coach, provides women and men with information about surgeries and minimally invasive techniques like dermal fillers and will recommend several doctors in the San Francisco Bay area for them to visit.
“I’m not a medical doctor,” Garber said to San Francisco ABC affiliate KGO. “So really, my advice is about education and safety.”
Garber launched her independent coaching business after working in the beauty and cosmetics industry for over 25 years. She told the source that she has no financial relationship with the surgeons to whom she refers clients or the manufacturers of fillers or injections. According to Gerber, this neutrality is what sets her apart from other beauty couches, as they may be more inclined to send business to certain doctors over others.
One San Francisco surgeon, Dr. James Newman, told the media outlet that he appreciated the services of Garber’s coaching business. He said that patients that come into his office because of her referral are more knowledgeable and able to make informed decisions.
While you don’t necessarily need a plastic surgery coach to help you decide whether or not you should have a procedure, it is important that you do thorough research. For more information about cosmetic surgery, contact the professional staff at The Lett Center today.
