According to The Wall Street Journal, the holiday season – specifically the last two weeks in December – is the busiest time of year for many plastic surgeons. Why? Some people finally have enough time off of work, while others simply want to look good for the family and friends that they haven’t seen all year. Writing on the blog of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig, a Chicago physician, suggested that anyone who is considering having a cosmetic procedure over the holidays have the following considerations in mind:
The reason for your plastic surgery
It’s only natural for you to want to impress family and friends whom you haven’t seen in a while. Before you go to a holiday event, you probably buy a new outfit and get your haircut, so why not stop into your plastic surgeon’s office for a few dermal fillers? While there’s nothing wrong with being proactive about improving your appearance, the opinions of others should not be your motivation for having a cosmetic procedure. It is important to remember that surgery and facial injections are medical procedures. Showing up a relative or a work rival may not be the best reason to undergo surgery.
Recovery time
If you are fortunate enough to have a significant amount of time off from work, the holiday season is great time to have surgery. Don’t forget though that recovery time means that you need to rest. Carrying shopping bags, cooking and decorating your house are going to feel more physically demanding than they normally would. If you want to be more active during the holiday season, then maybe you should postpone having surgery until after the new year.
