"Break-up Botox" is the latest trend to take the beauty world by storm, the New York Post reports this week. One physician, a consultant for the make-up brand L'Oreal, tells the source that the injections are an inexpensive and easy way to immediately look better and boost self-esteem. Diana Vlad, a 35-year-old New York City resident, says that she turned to the treatment after ending a relationship with a serious boyfriend.

"I felt old and rejected. I needed to get my confidence back," Vlad tells The Post. "Just making the appointment lifted my spirits. And after getting it done, people said how great I looked. I really needed to hear that. It made me excited to date again."

Amanda Pucci, a 25-year-old nurse, shares a similar story, saying that after her boyfriend cheated on her with a younger woman, Botox helped her get back on her feet.

Some medical professionals actually believe that the effects may be more than just skin deep. If the act of frowning tells your brain that you are sad or unhappy, then your mood may plummet, creating a feedback loop. On the other hand, if Botox has limited your facial muscles' tendency to frown, then your brain may interpret your state of mind as more positive than it actually is, improving your overall mood.

Far more research needs to be done before anyone can say whether this theory is accurate, but regardless, many women say that Botox helps them bounce back from bad break-ups. Just be sure that you only get injections from a reputable and trusted source, under the supervision of a board certified plastic surgeon like Dwayne Lett, M.D. If you are interested in learning more about getting Botox in Nashville, contact The Lett Center today!
