Janet Evanovich is best known as the author of the “Stephanie Plum” series of mystery novels. She has sold over 75 million books in her 25-year career, and at 70 shows no sign of stopping.

In an interview with TIME, the writer dished on how she continues to stay healthy and maintain her youthful image. She has a hairdresser and makeup artist but said that her facelift has given her looks the biggest boost.

Evanovich told the publication that she had plastic surgery 10 years ago as a 60th birthday present to herself and said it was the best thing that she had ever done.

“I had it done because I was looking at someone in the mirror and I had no idea who she was,” Evanovich told the source. “She just didn’t look like who I felt like inside. […] So I got up the courage […] and went in and got this facelift. I get up in the morning and I look in the mirror, and I think, Huh, I’m still pretty cute.”

She also noted that the purpose of her facelift was not to look younger or like a different person. The author said that she simply wanted to look good for her age.
