Bigger isn’t always better, at least if you are a follower of a new trend toward smaller breast implants. More women seem to be undergoing cosmetic surgery to reduce the size of their artificial enhancements. Others are opting for more conservatively sized implants the first time around.
Florida news outlet WBBH recently reported that women are opting for smaller implants so that they can be more active, look slimmer and better fit into clothes. Celebrity surgeon Dr. Sharon Giese said in a June news release that others are seeking smaller implants because of changes in hormone levels.
“Because menopause can cause breast growth, women who have had past implants may realize that they now want to go down a size,” she said. “Or maybe they went through some estrogen changes and would now like to downsize.”
Women who had breast augmentation years or decades ago also now have the chance to choose a different kind of implant, using newer medical technology. Today patients have a wider array of options when selecting implant materials, sizes, shapes and textures.
According to FOX News, a number of celebrities have also opted to downsize their breast implants, including Victoria Beckham, Heidi Montag, Jenna Jameson, Sharon Osbourne, Tara Reid, Kimberly Stewart and Courtney Love.
