Plastic Surgery Look-Alikes in Miss Universe Competition
Beauty pageant contestants are always expected to look their best, no matter what country they are from. As such, many of these gorgeous women choose to go under the knife. A little nip and tuck here and there can often be the difference between making it from the semifinals to the finals and ultimately taking home the crown. However, one Asian nation may have taken their cosmetic surgery obsession a bit too far.
South Korea has been the topic of criticism because of the country’s love of plastic surgery. Men and women alike want their noses narrower, eyes larger and jaw more shapely and as a result, turn to physicians who can make their dreams come true. But, nowhere is this more apparent than in beauty contestants. Doctors have been accused of making Miss Universe contestants look the same.
“You aren’t racist,” read an anonymous post on news website Reddit. “Those women in fact do look unnervingly similar and yes, Koreans think so too. This is because they all get the exact same plastic surgeries and the surgeons follow the same formulas for noses and eyes and everything else they’ve had done.”
Another Korean Reddit user claimed that the women there don’t even think twice about altering their appearance surgically. “Girls here consider eye surgery just like using make up,” he stated, according to news and gossip website Gawker.
