More and more Millennials are using Botox, but not for the reasons you’d think. They’re not using it to knock off a few years, but to prevent future wrinkles.
The three most common areas, which can be serviced in a single visit, are typically “crow’s feet” lines around the eyes, lines on the forehead, and “the number 11 lines” which are the vertical lines between the eyebrows.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported a 41% increase in Botox treatments in the age group 19 to 34, from the years of 2011 to 2015. When administered correctly, Botox injections received at an earlier age may prevent the development of defined lines and wrinkles much later by redistributing the collagen in your skin to the areas that lack definition.

So, what is Botox? Botulinum toxin (BTX), commonly known as Botox is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and related species. Botulinum toxin is administered by diluting the powder in saline, which is then injected directly into neuromuscular tissue. It takes approximately 24-72 hours for botulinum toxin to take effect.
Botox can dramatically reduce early and moderate signs of aging by minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or reshaping the eyebrows. These FDA-approved neuromodulators typically wear off in 3 to 4 months.
So why get Botox early on?
Between the ages of 20 and 30, the production of collagen slows down and wrinkles begin to form. After the age of 30, the skin starts to lose thickness at about 1% every year. This results in deeper wrinkles across the neck and face.
Botox is more affordable for younger patients, as less of the drug is needed for injection. By starting Botox early, you will need less of the product later on. For example, someone in their 50’s will need roughly 25-50 units of Botox for desired results, as opposed to someone in their 20’s who may only need 15-25 units.
For the month of December, Botox injections are only $11 per unit! Millenials who are interested in Botox, or a similar procedure, should give The Lett Center a call today at 615-443-0901! Happy Holidays!!
