Put your best face forward with a chemical peel this month. For the month of June, Dr. Lett of The Lett Center is offering chemical peels at a discounted 20 percent off.
A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing damaged outer layers. It is known as one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of the skin.
A chemical peel can help improve:
- Acne or acne scarring
- Age and liver spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Freckles
- Irregular skin pigmentation
- Rough skin and scaly patches
- Scars
- Sun-damaged skin.
Its deep exfoliation capabilities remove outer layers of the epidermis to improve the tone and texture of the skin.
The Lett Center offers two types of chemical peels, those with Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) and those with Trichloroacetic acid (TCA).
AHA peels are typically used to provide smoother, brighter skin for patients. Using these types of acids, such as glycolic, lactic or fruit, a mild chemical peel is created. These types of peels often result in improved skin texture and a fresher appearance.
TCA peels can be used in many concentrations but are most commonly used in medium-depth peeling procedures. Fine surface wrinkles and pigment problems are often treated with this type of peel.
A TCA peel may result in swelling and redness, as compared to an AHA peel which often results in mild redness, flaking or dryness.
During the procedure at The Lett Center, a chemical solution will be chosen based on the needs and desires of the patient and his or her skin. The skin is then cleared of any oils or makeup. The solution is applied to the skin, remaining for a short period of time to remove the dead layers. During this time, the skin will turn white with a frost-like effect. This is followed by neutralization and cleaning. Finally, an ointment is applied to aid in the healing process.
Immediately following the surgery, an ointment and dressings are applied to aid in the healing process and minimize swelling. The skin is likely to have a pinkish hue, and a thin crust-like appearance may form over the treated area.
Recovery time varies based on the extent of the chemical peel, as post-operative instructions include limited movement and plenty of rest to speed up the healing process.
Chemical peel treatments at The Lett Center vary in price ranging from $75 to $350. The Lett Center offers different types of chemical peels including Lactic Acid, Obagi Blue Peel, VI Peel, Jessner Peel and SkinMedica Vitalize Rejuvenize peel.
As with any plastic or cosmetic procedure, there are some risks involved. These risks include unwanted pigmentation changes, infection and scarring. These risks will be determined, as well as benefits, during your consultation with Dr. Lett of TheLettCenter.com.
