Gift giving is changing this holiday season.

As you’re buying the last minute items on your holiday shopping lists you may find yourself stuck on what to buy for a certain someone. In this case, plastic surgery could be the answer, at least for some.

According to recent information revealed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) the idea of giving gift cards for plastic surgery is growing in popularity. There has been a growth from 10 to 15 percent in the past year alone, with noninvasive procedures topping the list of most popular procedures.

Usually, the customers seen buying these gift cards are men for their wives or significant others who have likely had a procedure done before.

Although this may be a perfect gift for some, it’s definitely not for everyone. Before purchasing the gift card, keep the following considerations in mind. First, remember who you’re actually buying for. Has he or she had a procedure done at a previous time? Has he or she expressed interest in a certain procedure? Keep age and timing in mind as well.

Undergoing a plastic surgery procedure is a real surgery, one that is characterized by great gains and possible complications. Instead of gifting an actual procedure, consider a minimally invasive choice instead. These choices may include a laser skin treatment, a chemical peel, laser hair removal or a microdermabrasion treatment. Considered more as spa treatments than actual plastic surgery procedures, a chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment enhance the appearance of the skin, tightening and freshening outer layers, as well as those underneath.

Available at The Lett Center, microdermabrasion treatments are currently $70 through the end of December, and chemical peels are 25 percent off their total cost. Whether you give the gift of change, or not this season, be sure to keep skincare and overall health in mind.
