KYBELLA ®
WHAT IS KYBELLA® INJECTABLE?
Kybella® is an FDA-approved treatment specifically designed to reduce submental fat, also known as a “double chin”. This non-surgical injectable treatment uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat.

Is Kybella® right for you?
REASONS FOR CONSIDERING KYBELLA®
WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA?
If you are seeking a non-invasive solution to eliminating submental fat, then Kybella may be the right option for you. Kybella is ideal for the person who wants to treat moderate to severe fat in the following areas:
- Under the chin
- Bra line
- Inner knees
- Stomach
- Arms
- Thighs
Other factors that can make someone an ideal candidate for Kybella include:
- Visual appearance of a “double chin”
- Strong skin elasticity
- At a healthy or their ideal weight
Those who many not benefit from Kybella, and may want to consider other options, are those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have loose skin, or have bleeding disorders
HOW IS KYBELLA PERFORMED?
The design of Kybella injections is straightforward yet effective. During a Kybella appointment, one of our skilled injectors will numb the area, then inject a precise amount of deoxycholic acid in a grid pattern under the targeted area, ensuring even distribution and effective fat cell destruction. Each session typically lasts between 15 to 20 minutes, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules.
Patients can usually return to their normal activities immediately after the injections, which is a major selling point for those who cannot afford extended recovery periods. Results from Kybella are gradual, and usually require 3 to 4 sessions in total. It is recommended that these sessions are spaced anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks apart.
KYBELLA RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS
As with any cosmetic injection or procedure, there are potential risks and side effects to consider so that you can make the best decision. Some common side effects following a Kybella session may include:
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Pain at the injection site
- Numbness
- Redness
Usually these side effects are typical to experience, like swelling, and are only temporary.
More severe side effects, though rare, include nerve injury, which can lead to facial muscle weakness and an uneven smile. If Kybella is injected too superficially, it may lead to the development of ulcers at the injection site. With this in mind, it’s important to undergo a Kybella treatment with a qualified injection to minimize these complications.
ALTERNATIVES TO TREAT DOUBLE CHIN OR STUBBORN FAT
While Kybella is one common and successful treatment for treating a double chin or stubborn fat, there are alternatives to treat these same conditions. Other treatment options for the appearance of a double chin or other stubborn fat includes:
In addition, maintaining a stable weight within 10-15 pounds of the treatment weight is crucial for optimizing Kybella’s effectiveness.
