Beauty trends, secrets and rituals are constantly changing. New to the forefront is shaving your face… if you are a woman, that is.
According to ABC news, face shaving, now known as “dermaplaning” can help retain youthful-looking skin and prevent wrinkles.
The cost for dermaplaning varies, but could cost up to about $100, according to KBOI-2, an affiliate of CBS news. Face shaving can also be done at home with the purchase of a pack of razors, good lighting and moisturizing shaving foam.
Some experts believe that dermaplaning can be also used to prepare skin for a chemical peel treatment.
A chemical peel procedure, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, entails using a chemical solution to remove damaged outer skin levels by smoothing skin texture.
Chemical peels can help solve a multitude of skin issues including:
- Freckles
- Irregular skin pigmentation
- Sun damage
- Scars
- Fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots
Chemical peels contain a blended formula of three chemicals, phenol, trichloroacetic acid, and alphahydroxy acids, according to ASPS.
The different types of chemical peels target different problem areas.
Trichloroacetic acid
- Used for medium-depth peeling
- Treats fine surface wrinkles, pigment problems and blemishes
- Treatments take 10-15 minutes but may need to be repeated
- Sunscreen use is a must
Alphahydroxy acid
- Helps control acne breakouts
- Improves texture of sun damaged, rough and dry skin
- Can be used before trichloroacetic acid treatments
- Sunscreen use is recommended
The Lett Center chemical peel prices range from $75 to $350 depending on the type chosen.
Some of their other chemical peels include:
- Jessner Peel
- Lactic Acid
- VI Peel
- Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid, according to Express News, “dissolves the glue-like substance that binds dead skin cells to the surface of the skin.” The treatment is left on for a specified amount of time by the person administering it, and when removed, the skin is cleansed and moisturized.
Do some research and find the chemical peel that works best for your skin.
