Seasons aren’t the only things that change. Your skin care routine should too! Here are five spring skin changes you need to make in the new season.

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate.

Get rid of winter dryness with a non-abrasive exfoliation. Exfoliation helps to gently uncover fresh new layers of skin and improve texture. You should exfoliate your skin 2-3 times per week. Anything more could cause damage to your skin, and strip the natural oils, causing your skin to produce more oils and breakout.

Switch to a lightweight moisturizer

After the winter months, even the ones with the best skin still suffer from dryness thanks to the cold weather and wind. We tend to apply layer after layer of moisturizer to help with chapped skin. Now that spring is here, you can toss those thick creams out and switch to a lighter moisturizer. If you have oily prone skin, opt for a water-base formula for hydration, but make sure to never skip your moisturizer. The thirstier your skin is, the more oil it will produce- which can lead to breakouts.

Apply sunscreen

After months of being bundled up, applying sunscreen is a must once temperatures start to rise. Even though the temperatures are cooler than the summer, it’s important to protect your skin from even the smallest amount of sunlight. Be sure to bump up your SPF in spring for added protection.

Add an eye cream

The sun is finally out, which means people will be more prone to squinting. To help with the development of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, find an eye cream with hyaluronic acid and ceramides to plump up skin cells.

Swap out your full-coverage foundation to a lighter formula

Just as you would with your moisturizers, switch out your full-coverage foundations for a lighter formula. Using heavy foundations during the spring can lead to clogged pores and acne. You can try thinning out your current foundation with a lightweight moisturizer if you don’t feel like purchasing new makeup.

Spring is a great time to let your skin shine. To prevent buildup of clogged pores and acne, lay off the heavy moisturizes and foundations for brighter and clearer skin. If you have any questions about any skin services we provide, contact The Lett Center today at 615-443-0901. Happy spring!
