We are just days away from the official start of summer, but is your body bikini ready? If not, here are some steps you can take to feel better about yourself next time you’re at the beach or pool:

Drink water

Drinking plenty of water makes your skin look younger and healthier, and some experts say it can also help you lose weight! During the hot summer months, keep a water bottle filled with icy water and carry it with you everywhere. If you are concerned about potentially harmful chemicals like bisphenol A, also known as BPA, opt for glass or stainless steel.

Eat right

This one probably comes as no surprise, but it bears repeating! Eat well and you will look better. Cut down on salt, since it makes your body hold onto water, causing puffiness and bloating. Consume lots of lean protein, fruit and vegetables, and minimize your caffeine intake since it can take a toll on skin.

Exercise

Be sure that your exercise regimen includes both cardiovascular and weight-training routines. You need the former to get your heart pumping so you can increase your overall fitness and burn calories, but if you want to sculpt and tone your muscles then you’ll also need to use free weights, machines or resistance bands. Consult with a personal trainer to find out what’s best for you.

Explore surgical options

If you have parts of your body that you just can’t seem to improve through diet and exercise, think about scheduling a consultation at The Lett Center to meet with our board certified plastic surgeons. The benefits of a tummy tuck and/or liposuction could completely change the way you feel about getting into a bathing suit!
