The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Global Statistics on Cosmetic Procedures 2015

According to PR Newswire, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) has released its 2015 statistics on cosmetic procedures across the world.

The ISAPS has more than 2,700 board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeon members in 95 countries.

The top five countries that performed the most cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures in 2014 include:

  1. United States – 4,064,571 – (20.1%)
  2. Brazil – 2,058,505 – (10.2%)
  3. Japan – 1,260,351 (6.2%)
  4. South Korea – 980,313 (4.8%)
  5. Mexico – 706,072 – (3.5%)

Botox remains the most popular cosmetic procedure for both men and women worldwide. In terms of surgical procedures, breast augmentations remain the highest among women and eyelid surgery among men.

  • Botulinum Toxin (4,830,911)
  • Hyaluronic Acid (2,690,633)
  • Hair Removal (1,277,581)
  • Chemical Peel (493,043)
  • Laser Skin Resurfacing (480,271)

Women underwent more than 17 million cosmetic procedures, 86.3 percent of the total amount for 2014. The most popular surgeries among women included breast augmentation, liposuction, and eyelid surgery. In comparison, the most popular surgeries among men were eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, and liposuction.

More than 20 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed worldwide, indicating that the industry as a whole shows no signs of slowing down.

As these plastic surgery statistics continue to change, it’s apparent that new procedures and techniques are attracting a range of patients to undergo procedures. Although trends are changing, many are still based around the same idea that patients are now able to make improvements to facial or body areas that once made them uncomfortable.
