Though women still undergo the vast majority of plastic surgery procedures performed each year, male clientele are slowly but surely edging their way into this area. In past posts, we’ve discussed how a growing number of men are investing in Botox treatments and chin implants to alleviate signs of aging and create a more overtly masculine look. Now, The New York Times has reported on another burgeoning trend among gentlemen that may surprise you: butt augmentation.

These cosmetic enhancements have become more popular among women in part because of curvaceous celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Beyonce. However, it seems that men are also getting a bit more self-conscious about the way they look in a pair of jeans.

One Virginia man, Jeff Vickers, told the newspaper that he went to a plastic surgeon after years of getting teased by friends and coworkers about his non-existent backside.

“When I went in to the doctor, I said, ‘I’m not a girl so I’m not worried about having a table back there you could sit a coffee cup on,’  […] I just wanted to be able to put on a pair of pants and for them to stay up,” he explained.

As fashions have shifted toward more fitted attire for men, this could well be the beginning of such cosmetic enhancements. If you have any questions about a specific procedure, contact Dr. Lett and his attentive staff at the Lett Center in Lebanon, Tennessee today to learn more.
