Laser Hair Removal Becoming More Popular With Men

While plenty of women across Tennessee are investing in a few last minute cosmetic treatments – and working in a few more sessions at the gym – to make sure they’re ready for swimsuit season, men are also taking steps to prepare for this skin-baring time of year. One of the hottest new trends among males, according to the U.K. Daily Mail, is laser hair removal in a somewhat unexpected place.

According to the British newspaper, a growing number of guys are flocking to plastic surgery clinics and medi-spas to get the hair removed from their feet.  Dr. Michael Prager, a dermatologist in London, told the media outlet that his male customers have voiced their concerns about having “hobbit feet,” like the characters in “Lord of the Rings” whose feet are “covered with curly hair and thick, leathery soles, making shoes unnecessary.”

Generally, a man doesn’t have to worry about his feet being on display, but as the temperature skyrockets and the flip flops come out, suddenly these features are on show for all the world to see. So, just as women may indulge in a pedicure to address dry, cracked heels and other aesthetic concerns, men are starting to invest in laser hair removal.

“Today men are more aware of the treatments available to them and are more open to the possibility of undergoing a cosmetic procedure in a bid to get the shape and the physique that they would like,” Dr. Dennis Wolf, a plastic surgeon also based in London, told the Daily Mail.
