laser hair removal

Since it’s commercial inception over two decades ago, laser hair removal has become increasingly popular. More and more people want a long-lasting solution to remove unwanted body hair. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, over 1.5 million laser hair removal procedures were performed in 2016.

Simply put, laser hair removal uses light to affect the hair follicles. The laser’s high-intensity light targets dark hair and damages the hair follicle, which hinders future hair growth. Also, it’s a non-invasive and outpatient procedure, so patients can go about their day immediately after. Patients should undergo multiple sessions in order to achieve permanent results. The number of sessions will depend on the area being treated and the thickness of the hair. The hair that does grow back after treatment will be lighter and much thinner.

Technological advancements have improved the effectiveness of laser hair removal procedures. With so many different machines available, it’s helpful to know the advantages of each one. Here’s a helpful breakdown of two popular machines:

Clarity II

Introducing our latest addition to our variety of laser hair removal treatments, we proudly offer Clarity II. This advanced technology is able to treat larger areas is less time with effective, safe and gentle results. Safe for all skin types.

Candela® GentleLASE

This machine is very versatile and very effective at removing hair. It also delivers a burst of cryogen to the skin to cool the area and give the patient a more comfortable experience. While the GentleLASE is mostly used for hair removal, this machine can also be used to treat pigmented lesions, wrinkles, and freckles.

Candela® GentleYAG

Before the GentleYAG came along, individuals with darker skin weren’t ideal candidates for laser hair removal. For other machines, the lighter the skin and the darker the hair, the better the results. The GentleYAG doesn’t absorb as much melanin as other machines, making it the ideal hair removal system for patients with darker skin tones. The YAG also uses the patented cryogen for cooling the skin and to protect from injury. This same laser can be used for skin tightening and treating very small leg veins.

Laser hair removal is effective as a permanent reduction in hair to the treated area.
