In a recent episode of Good Morning America, a panel of beauty experts shared some of their secrets for erasing 10 years off of people’s appearances. Bobbi Brown, a professional makeup artist and the founder and CCO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, revealed some of her tips for achieving what she calls a “makeup facelift.” Brown suggests doing the following:

  • Brightening up the area under the eyes – “Under-eye circles can become more pronounced as we get older, making us look more tired and worn down,” says Brown. “Lighten the under-eye area with my ‘secret to the universe:’ corrector and creamy concealer. First, apply a pink- or peach-toned corrective concealer to correct the darkness, and then conceal with a yellow-toned concealer. Be sure to apply it right up to the lash line.”
  • Dusting on a bronzer – One of the keys to maintaining a youthful appearance is protecting your skin from the sun, but that doesn’t mean having to look as pale as a vampire. Brown suggests using a bronzer to give your skin a healthy glow.
  • Moisturizing – Brown says that one of the best ways to treat facial lines and give the skin a smoother look is to use moisturizer liberally. She even recommends layering different types of moisturizers—like a hydrating face cream and a dense balm—on days when you’re looking particularly tired.

Of course, sometimes people need more than just makeup and moisturizer to get the youthful look they’re going for. If you’re thinking about getting a facelift, there are board certified plastic surgeons who can help.
