Botox Can Safely Reduce Wrinkles

Though women in Tennessee have been turning to Botox treatments for years to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been a bit slow to recognize all of the benefits of these procedures. In fact,  when Botox was first approved for cosmetic use back in 2002, the FDA only certified its benefits against frown lines between the brows, but did not touch on how these injectables can combat other signs of aging.

Last week, however, that all changed. According to an official press release, the FDA now recognizes Botox injections as a remedy for “moderate to severe lateral canthal lines” – those frustrating creases we all know as crow’s feet.

“Botox Cosmetic’s safety and effectiveness for treating lateral canthal lines were established in two clinical efficacy and safety studies. The studies enrolled 833 adult participants with moderate to severe lateral canthal lines who were randomly assigned to receive Botox or placebo,” the press release states. Participants who received Botox rather than a placebo reportedly enjoyed better results than people who got the placebo.
