More people are turning to plastic surgery, a new study shows!

Plastic surgery is on the rise in the country as procedures become more affordable, highly recommended, and innovative. Last year alone, there were 1.7 million cosmetic surgery procedures, which is up by 2 percent from the previous year, according to data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. While breast augmentation continues to be in the highest demand across the country, nose reshaping, tummy tucks, eyelid surgery, and liposuction also made the top five procedures from 2015.

“Men are representing nearly half of all breast reduction surgeries.”

Though the percentage of these procedures continues to rise, new research from ASPS shows that new demographics are increasingly turning to plastic surgery, along with previously less common procedures growing in popularity. One of the newest, quickly growing procedures in the country is butt implants, which saw a massive 36 percent increase from 2014. Similarly, butt lifts also grew at a 36 percent rate during this time.

As many across the country are witnessing the vast benefits plastic surgery offers, the industry is drawing in new demographics as well. According to the ASPS report, men are representing nearly half of all breast reduction surgeries in the country, which is not only a 5 percent increase from 2014 but a 35 percent rise from 2000. ASPS President David Song explained in the company’s press release that young men, in particular, are turning to this beneficial procedure as a way to enhance their lives and self-esteem.

“While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we’re seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address,” Song explained.
