As the first of its kind, the most recent facelift study conducted by surgeons of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospitals in New York found that most plastic surgery patients are happy with their procedure results.
The study, published in the August issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, found that patients were highly satisfied with their facial appearance and quality of life after the surgery, including social confidence, psychological wellbeing and overall impact on daily activities.
On average, respondents said they felt 6.9 years younger than their actual age.
The study also found that many patients are more satisfied with the appearance of their nasolabial folds, cheeks and lower face or jawline, as compared to their neck or area underneath the chin.
"The study shows that patients are extremely happy with their decisions to have a facelift and with the results." Dr. Thornes said to the Cosmetic Surgery Times. "[The study] is not an investigation of a particular facelifting technique but it demonstrates that, in this era of injectables, non-surgical options and less-invasive procedures, facelifting remains a gold standard."
The Lett Center offers many of the procedures mentioned here, including the facelift.
The facelift is a procedure used to smooth and firm the skin, creating a fresher, more youthful appearance. Over time, repeated sun exposure, stress and the natural aging process can take a toll on the appearance of the face.
By undergoing a facelift procedure, sagging skin, as well as excess skin and creases along the mouth, nose and chin can be remedied to give a patient a younger, more rejuvenated appearance.
